THE MACHINE:
The year is 1982 when Miles graduates from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. 3rd in his class and specializing in advanced cybernetics, Miles is the toast of the town. Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Raytheon, and the U.S. Government itself line up to recruit the young man. Preferring instead to relocate back to the West Coast, Miles settles on a little known company and begins to crawl his way up the corporate ladder.

You see, every end has a beginning… and this is the beginning of the end.

It was struggling to find its place among the giants of the industry: Continuing to find dead ends in product development while others pioneered anti-satellite systems and personal computers. In a seemingly endless age of discovery, Miles was eagerly awaiting his chance to make his name known.

But sometimes it is pure fate that determines the course of man.

With two kids and a beautiful wife, Miles finds himself in contention for Father of the Year. During which time, he becomes the Director of Special Projects and begins work on a revolutionary microprocessor… one that is superconducting at room temperatures and makes other computers look like a pocket calculator.

You see, Miles subscribes to the Technological Imperative, that is, what can be discovered will and should be discovered. What the Imperative doesn’t tell you is that the machines are ultimately the manifestation of a man’s obsession… and that a paper clip will save the world
